... The Haircut Theory of Scoring

And I mean goal scoring. After getting a great shortening of the freeloading locks on Tuesday, I was able to front up to Thursday nights soccer and score within the opening ten minutes. The total is up to four now - two scored in the week of a haircut. I am considering having my sideburns trimmed every week now and I guess I have further insight into sporting superstitions.

The goal was even more amazing for my ability to score it after being stuffed full of food from the sad farewell to Simmone who is leaving to spawn a future tormentor of IT staff.

... The Snubbing of the Tales

(246 Alternate Title: Things #16-17 Wikis)

I had a long Instant Message chat with FridgePower yesterday and in the middle of it all Wikis came up so I thought I'd knock off another few 2.0 things.

But first, when having a look at all the 2.0 blogs, her comment was "Simmone's is really cool............ and yours too." I am boggled. And I had been thinking it was really good to chat with her after such a long time of just watching each other log on and off in the corner of the screen!!!!!!

Ahem, I am calmed down now.

So Wikis.
I have used a few in my day, all related to gaming stuff. The first one was the most official and was to organise the online info for the game without the web site maintenance falling on the shoulders of one person.
The second one was the Thursday night groups shared notes for the game but a server crash wiped that one out and we never got back into it.
The latest one is for the Game Circle (of Monday night's Geektogether fame) website where the "what games are being played" page and a few others are Wiki pages.

For library use the old chestnut of collaborative procedure manuals would possibly work if some of the access was restricted. Also they may bbe a good way to store a lot of reader's advisory notes and information.

... the Day of Delays

Today got off to a great start with and early morning phone call from Svetlana in Eastern Europe - which did delay my leaving for work a little. Hot on the heals of that was a mortgage related call that further delayed my leaving.

Once I was on the road I had to stop for petrol and waited 7 minutes for a spot to open up! What do people do in that little shop?

Next I went to the post office and while I was filling in the postal info for the Svetlana-bound parcel six people came out of nowhere and formed a painfully slow queue that I had to while away my lunch break in.

Continuing the theme of delays I had a phone conversation with fellow 2.0'er Simmone about how we'd both registered the same day as Scully but there is some delay in our blogs appearing on The Big List (actually quite small as I write this).
